Find your pathways
01

Resolve district boundaries

The tool combines address geocoding with Massachusetts GIS data to identify a municipality, resident public-school district, and primary regional vocational technical pathway.

02

Compare Chapter 74 programs

Students can select multiple career interests and compare them with approved programs at their primary vocational school and conditionally eligible nonresident schools.

03

Explain admissions

Results distinguish the resident right to public education from vocational weighted lotteries and the separate admission and tuition approvals required for nonresident attendance.

04

Make the next step clear

School-specific deadlines, historical lottery scenarios, official admissions links, approximate distances, and the Chapter 74 tuition process help families move from research to action.

CHAPTER 74 GUIDANCE

What is a Chapter 74 program?

Massachusetts Chapter 74 programs are state-approved career technical education programs that combine academic learning with technical preparation. Availability differs by school and region.

When a desired program is not offered through a student’s primary vocational pathway, Massachusetts provides a nonresident application process. A student must be admitted by the receiving school and receive tuition approval from the resident district or the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on review.

Built for informed planning

Results use official Massachusetts data where available, but they are planning guidance—not an admissions decision, legal determination, or guarantee. School districts remain the authoritative source for campus assignments, current program availability, deadlines, and admissions decisions.
